I’m Roxanne!

Originally from Canada, I now reside in the French Alps. Currently, I primarily teach in English.

My earliest experience with yoga began in my household as a teen. My father practiced regularly at the house, and I will be honest - I was not convinced.

During my ongoing dance classes, we had regular mat exercises that included Pilates… this was slightly more enticing to me at the time.

It was many years later in my very early twenties that I went to my first public yoga class. I was terrified.

I had suffered from an auto-immune condition and many physical injuries from years of pushing myself intensely with sport and exercise. I was no longer able to do the things I enjoyed without landing myself in the hospital. It was a regular yoga practice that helped me find a healthier rhythm in life. I began going to several classes a week, often twice a day. I loved hot yoga, power yoga, and dynamic vinyasa as it was my fill-in for the intensity and dopamine hits that I was missing from sport. This was also not sustainable. I landed myself in the hospital several times through this route. I began slowing down my practice with hatha and yin. I was still very resistant to restorative, pranayama breathing exercises, and would avoid meditation at all costs.

It took years of practicing stillness and exploring philosophy and different movements to understand what my body and mind were needing all along - a regulated nervous system. It wasn’t more exercise, more cardio, more runs, more on the to-do list. It was the opposite.

I studied Yoga Therapy as I truly believe in the benefits of this practice and how it can help all individuals find peace and ease in their lives regardless of their unique challenges or degraded health states.

Sharing love and kindness with others brings me great happiness. My mission is to create a safe environment where people can simply be themselves.

Previous Classes:

Previously, I have taught regular trauma informed group yoga and meditation classes at the Chopra Addiction and Wellness Centre. These classes were created for guests to land and create stability while navigating complex trauma and addiction recovery with on-site specialists.

I now offer private one-on-one therapeutic yoga sessions in person or online.
